Equine specialist, expert in law and insurance cases, advising veterinarian for the German jockey club, racehorse trainer, member of the Veterinarian chamber North Rhine, representative of the German jockey club at the EHSLC, chief editor of the scientific magazine for equine practitioners: “Pferdespiegel”.
After finishing his high school in Cologne and doing his military service he started to study veterinary medicines in Vienna, Austria. Later on he switched to Berlin and finally he finished his studies in Munich. During this time he also did several placements amongst others in Los Angeles and New York, this completes his international education as a veterinarian. He has an education as a rider up to silver grade level of the FN and competed in competitions up to class M in dressage and jumping.
After finishing the studies of veterinary medicines he wrote his thesis about Doppler- echocardiography on the horse for the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover. This elementary work about ultrasound examinations with the Doppler-technique on the equine heart was rewarded with the Felix Wankel Award in 1992.
He finished his education for equine specialist (“Fachtierarzt fuer Pferde”) at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover while working at the equine clinics of Dr. med vet. P. Cronau in Bochum and Dr. med. vet. A. Szemes in Cologne in 1994. After obtaining his degree he became an independent entrepreneur.
With the discovery of the facilities called ‘Burg Mueggenhausen’ in 1996 he built together with Dr. Nolting a practice. After one year of many reconstructions and large investments the equine clinic Burg Mueggenhausen was founded. In January 2006, due to change in management, Dr. Weinberger funded the equine clinic Burg Mueggenhausen GmbH. In addition to his veterinary activities Dr. Weinberger is chief editor of the scientific veterinary magazine ‘Pferdespiegel’. Regularly he gives talks and workshops at international congresses and meetings.
