Curriculum vitae
Born in North Germany, Dr. Schulze finished high school in Bremen in 1995. After completing the civil service at the German Red Cross, he began his studies at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover. During his studies he did several internships, most of them at well known equine clinics in the USA. It was during this time Dr. Schulze developed his expertise in equine surgery and orthopaedics.
After concluding his studies in 2002 Dr. Schulze started working at the former equine clinic Burg Mueggenhausen. His field of specialisation includes, amongst others, the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) on standing patients.
Dr. Schulze wrote his thesis about MRI and CT of the suspensory ligament under supervision of Prof. Dr. Budras and Prof. Dr. Huskamp. During his research he compared the CT with the MRI technique and he described the normal anatomy of the suspensory ligament. He discovered that the anatomy of the high suspensory ligament differs from what was described within literature. He verified the results with histology, anatomical sections, ultrasound and low-field MRI.
He has already given several lectures about the possibilities of MRI examinations on horses.
