Endoscopic examination
The endoscopic examination is used to gain more information about the airways of the horse.
The veterinarian observes the larynx, the trachea and the lungs with a glass fibre camera.
The examination of the lungs with a stethoscope before and after exercise cannot determine early acute and chronic defects. Also pathological lesions of the larynx, like for example “roaring” can only be diagnosed with an endoscope.
When the horse produces abnormal volumes of mucus we can take a sample and examine it within our laboratory. When a horse shows respiratory problems during exercise we recommend you to do this additional examination.
