Pre-Purchase
Defining the extent of the examination
At the beginning of each pre-purchase examination, the extent of the examination should be defined. Therefore the contract is divided into two parts; a general and a specific part. The general part describes to what extent the horse will be examined, additionally the purchase price of the horse must be confirmed. This is necessary because the insurance prices for veterinarians are constantly rising and an expensive horse requires a higher insurance fee. The value of the horse is also important to know for the veterinarians` liability insurance. Frequently the liability sums are limited (25.000 till 50.000 €). By knowing the purchase price we have the possibility to adjust the liability sum to the value of the horse.
In the specific part of the contract you have the option to define the extent of the examination. This enables you to compose your own examination profile and to define the costs of the examination in advance. This allows you to make the pre-purchase exam as (cost) efficient as possible.
