Digital radiography
In 1996, digital radiography, originating from human medicines, was added to the facilities. Through the years, this technique has been refined and optimized for best possible images.
One of the x-ray machines we have is a mobile, high frequency machine type “GIERTH HF 100 plus”. There are two computers for developing the images, called “FUIJFILM FCR XG1” and a new one with an extra high resolution called “FUIJFILM FCR PROFECT ONE”.
- For taking images of the skull and vertebrae we use a fixed x-ray machine type “SIEMENS TRIDORUS” and our very new machine type “Gierth 80 kw/150 kv”.
The advantage of digital x-rays in comparison to the analogue x-rays is that digital x-rays are developed within the computer and visible on the monitor directly after processing. This enables the veterinarian to edit the images, for example by changing focus, contrasts, brightness and to zoom in and out, for optimal assessment. Another advantage with digital x-rays is that they can be sent by e-mail to other involved parties.
All the computers within the clinic possess special software programs for examining and editing the x-ray images.
