ECG
Cardiac problems are often diagnosed with an electrocardiogram applied by exercise tests. The ECG gives information about both the heart rate and the quality of the heart beat.
At our clinic, a system called “Psion” is used. This system is specially developed for the veterinary field. The electrodes are placed on the horse and the wires connected to the system.
The ECG is recorded by the systems data logger during exercise. With a special exercise program where blood is taken at specific intervals the vet can monitor the horses’ heart.
