Dentistry
Equine dentistry has developed considerably, both knowledge and equipment wise. Unfortunately there are people who call themselves 'equine dentist' after doing a one-week dentist course without having any veterinary background. We are often shocked when seeing horses teething after such 'equine dentists' have done their work. While the number of severe problems caused by these 'specialists' is not very high, the risk of complications still exists. Without having necessary anatomic knowledge about the blood vessels and nerve canals people should not practise as an equine dentists. Dangerous is also the injection of tranquilisers and pain killers directly in the vein by non-veterinary dentists. This procedure is dangerous because they cannot intervene when a horse shocks after being injected at the wrong location or with the wrong dosage.
Treating a horse with tranquilizers is a must, without this, the veterinarian will not be able to do his work properly.
We recommend having the teeth of your horse checked at least once per year. When your horse shows signs of mouth problems we would like you make an appointment as soon as possible. Teeth problems can cause problems when the horse is under saddle and when neglected, it can even result in back pain.
Sometimes it is necessary to remove the wolf teeth of the horse. They can be removed ambulatory when you visit the clinic.
Thanks to our modern equipment we are able to carry out various dentistry- treatments and of course we keep up with the latest scientific knowledge in this field of specialisation.
